maybe he was getting a little too old for all this... archie sat up on the lowest branch in a tree, cigarette between his fingers as he scouted out the area of the park, bowler hat tipped low over his face. he considered climbing down and moving over to the park bench only a few meters off but decided against it, not only was he rather comfortable right where he was, but, he'd already crumpled his good suit getting up here... he'd just come back from another failed job interview. too qualified his ass, that's why he hadn't wanted to go to yale, fuck his step-father right to the depths of hell and back, seriously. it wasn't even like he /wanted/ a business job, anyway. he was an artist through and through... but, no, his mother agreed with his step father, artists didn't go far enough to support his party lifestyle so if he wanted to keep it up he was going to have to get a job that paid the right amount of money. art could be a hobby, she said, art could be done in his spare time, along with his party lifestyle and "sexual antics". sexual antics... archie scoffed and grinned to himself, shifting and throwing a leg over the other side of the branch, shifting down it and most likely ruining his good pants even more. he did have enough money to buy more, though. they hadn't cut him off from the family fortune... ...yet.

lifting the hem of his shirt, cray swiped it along his forehead, dampened with sweat. he still wasn't used to these jogs, having gotten out of the habit for a while after moving into the city. he'd told himself that it was because he had been so busy unpacking and sorting things around his flat, but that had been a few months ago now and he was only just getting himself back into the habit.
he kept moving toward his apartment, going at a much slower pace, and was minding his own business until he heard rustling up in the tree above his head and stopped, looking up. he'd expected to find a squirrel or a bird maybe, but what he found was a full grown man in a suit and bowler hat, smoking a cigarette. not at all what he'd been anticipating and he couldn't help but duck his head in an attempt to hide the chuckle.
"you lost?" he called up to the man when he'd collected himself enough not to sound too ridiculing when he spoke.
had it been a child, or even a teenager, he wouldn't have been as surprised, would have just carried on his way. but it wasn't often (or at least not in his experience) to find someone quite like this. he couldn't tell if he found it weird or intriguing.
"i could point you in the direction of the business district?" he offered, unable to keep the smirk off his face this time.

he'd already been looking down at the man when he'd heard him, too nosy to do otherwise. but when the man spoke in a rather attractive scottish accent, teasing and smirking, archie just grinned flashingly around his cigarette, eyebrows arching up towards his slicked back hair and bowler hat. he wasn't surprised in being questioned or teased, not at all. he knew he looked pretty ridiculous sitting up in the tree in a good suit like he was, but he didn't exactly care, either. "business district, directions. i've probably been here a lot longer than you, sir," he sassed back, grin widening as he pulled the cigarette free to ash it, not even caring that he shouldn't be smoking in this area, there were probably kids somewhere close. he wasn't sure, he didn't really /care/ for kids. stubbing the cigarette out on the tree limb, the english prat of a man pulled himself up until he was standing and then swung himself down to land somewhere close beside him. "scottish right, i'd recognize that accent anywhere, had a girlfriend with an accent as hot as that, before, she was a wildcat in bed," he told him, leaning up against the trunk of the tree, brushing down his suit in a casual way, kind of glad for a distraction from his thoughts, not /really/ wanting to think about working or his parents, not when he could be flirting and chatting, anyway. he brushed a bit of bark from his pants and tipped his hat back more to look up at the other man, grinning devilishly at him, looking boyish, much younger than he actually was before his brow crinkled which only made him look contradictorily older.

staring back at the man in disbelief, cray just shook his head a little. "you're a bit of an odd one, aren't you?" he questioned before nodding once. "aye, it's scottish," he confirmed, purposely making the accent sound a bit thicker. "if you think the ladies are wildcats, you should try out a lad sometime," he suggested, thinking he was being cheeky. he assumed this man didn't swing that way only because he'd mentioned a girlfriend and always did like seeing people go red in the face with such bold comments.
"name's creighton but you can call me cray if you like," he told the man, eying up the fancy suit he was wearing, his lips curving into a smile. he was rather attractive and straight or not, looking wouldn't do either of them any harm. he turned a bit, motioning with a quick tilt of his head as he continued walking in the direction of his apartment. despite how attractive the man was, sinking into his recently purchased couch sounded much nicer than a little flirting at the moment. though he never minded a bit of company.
"i'm heading back to my apartment. don't suppose you'd want to join me?" he asked, turning to look at the man, the smirk back on his lips. "i'd bet my couch is more comfortable than that tree limb."

"odd is only putting it lightly," archibald looked a little smug as he looked back at him, pulling the hat from his head as he pushed himself away, standing up straight. "and a lad in general or a scottish one?" he asked with a grin, chuckling lowly in amusement, his eyebrows lowering as he did so. he rather liked the mans returning sass and he really did like the accent and the name also suited him. he swung both ways and he'd definitely swing that way for this one, not that it was in his plans, he didn't leave his house with plans of getting laid, at least, not very often. "archibald, but i prefer archie, only my mother calls me archibald, and you start it you'll never get laid," he told him with a smug look shrugging a slender shoulder, watching cray moving away for him, trying not to grin as he was basically invited back to this guys place and wow, that was the quickest anyone had worked an invite on him, he considered on rejecting him, not because he was scared or anything, but he didn't know a damned thing about the man and he wasn't completely stupid, especially since he was quite a bit bigger. "you work a lot faster than these americans, even faster than the brits, not that i'm actually complaining or anything," he told him as he flipped his hat right back onto his head. he still wasn't so sure about following after but watched him for a moment before shrugging and nodding. "alright, what have i got to lose, after all?" he said as he shoved his hands into his pockets and wandered over to him, falling into step beside him. "have you tried a tree limb? don't rip it until you've tried it," he said to him, pulling his aviators out of his pocket and slipping them onto his face with a smug grin.

being as cocky as he was, jack hadn't slowed. he figured the man would follow and his smirk only grew a little when he saw him fall into step beside him. "well, either, but i did mean scottish," cray told him, licking his lips as he turned down the next street. not far now, thank goodness. he didn't think he could walk for much longer.
"and how do you figure i was working toward anything?" he asked suddenly, flashing archie a bit of a grin. he wasn't not flirting, but he wasn't giving it his all either. he wasn't inviting this man back solely for a quick fuck.
but he wouldn't say no.
they walked past a couple of streets before cray turned down another, his apartment within viewing distance now and he unconsciously moved a bit faster. "and yes, i have tried a tree limb. i was probably climbing trees before you knew how to walk," he smarted off, turning to flash the other a wink. he was a bit young, wasn't he? old enough, though, and that was what was important.
