if there was one kid that had gone through too much in seventeen years, it was quin xavier. not many guys in buffalo could say they had lived all around new york, had a girlfriend get killed basically because of him in a gang accident, and so much more. somehow, after it all, quin still stood with his head held high. it was tough to go to work at the movie theater every day and see girls that looked like kenzie, and on top of that have to be in charge of so many employees. quin loved his job, don't get me wrong, it was just difficult being a manager so young when all the other managers were in their twenties at least. because of that, he got looked down on sometimes. that was nothing really new for quin, though. being a foster kid for sixteen and a half years, quin had gotten used to people looking down on him for anything and everything.
it really didn't help much that he'd picked up a bit of a habit of smoking with his best friend. he'd probably be a little screwed if his boss didn't completely love him. quin adjusted his flat brimmed hat, looking around his work. the bag hanging over one of his shoulders holding his clothes from that day. a soft sigh made its way out of his lips. walking even to his car in the rain just didn't sound very appealing when there was some pretty good movies out, so quin settled on pulling out his phone to invite aeries to meet him instead. he wouldn't admit it, but the crazy brunette had a way of keeping his attention pretty damn well. it was only right to invite her to catch a movie with her, right? sure, why not.

hit the lights - let the music move you . . . "why won't this damn ipod work?" aeries has been working on transferring music from her itunes to the ipod sitting beside her laptop. for some reason, she couldn't get her ipod to connect to the laptop, but it didn't take long for her to quit working on fixing the issue. instead, she heard her phone vibrate on the desk before reaching over for it to check the newest message. it was from one of her friends; quin. he had asked if she could meet up with him at the movies now that his shift was over so that they could catch a movie. aeries loved having a manager for a friend, even if he was the youngest one to be at the movie theater. it had quite the benefit from seeing movies for free. it saved a lot considering aeries loved movies. she was hoping to see her face on the big screen one of these days.
smiling, aeries rushed over to her closet to pick out something decent to wear. she was only in her pajamas and didn't want to look like a lazy bum trying to watch a movie with a cute boy. she settled on a pair of skinny jeans, black ballet flats, an element brand t-shirt, and topped off with a navy blue zip-up hoodie since it was reaching colder temperatures outside. grabbing her wallet and placing it inside her purse along with her cell phone, some makeup, and a nearly empty pack of bubblegum, aeries made her way outside the house and walked fifteen minutes towards the movie theater. it was so cool that she didn't happen to live that far away. halfway along the walk, she hadn't realized it was raining outside but she didn't care how wet she got from it. she loved the rain. heading inside the theater, she hugged quin from behind. "hi, stranger. d'you come here often?"

rain had always been one thing that quin loved. he never really got time out in it anymore when it did happen, though, because of work and being stuck watching his younger siblings. the most he saw of rain was the people walking into the theater soaking wet. kaelah insisted that she was old enough to watch herself, but any time quin tried to get away, she would complain about wanting him there with her. it was kind of cute how clingy the little girl was, but it made it rather difficult to have an actual life -- especially with working six nights a week. one of the perks of being a manager though was the extra vacation days. not that he would really use them for anything. he had his life pretty evenly planned out for the present. for the future, not so much.
most of the juniors at school were planning what colleges they wanted to go to, what careers they wanted for the future, what they were going to do with their lives in five, ten, fifteen years. quin wasn't exactly like most people, and he took pride in that. he didn't want to be normal, because normal was overrated. he had given up on planning ahead long ago, when he learned that everything could change in a matter of minutes and leave him somewhere across the state. so, he didn't plan. he just enjoyed what he had when he had it. feeling a pair of wet arms wrap themselves around him, and a voice in his ear, quin couldn't help but grin. "as a matter of fact, i do." he turned around, draping his arms over her shoulders. "have anything in particular that you wanna see?"

hit the lights - let the music move you . . . watching him drape his arms across her shoulders, aeries smiled. "well, stranger... it looks like you're wet," aeries pointed out the fact that her rain-soaked body had at least left a damp impact on quin's. shrugging at him, she really had no idea what movies were out at the moment. her eyes shifted over to the posters hanging around to see which one would catch her interest. "i dunno, mr. manager. what would you suggest for us to watch? i think i wanna see taylor lautner's abs in abduction. or, maybe that dolphin tale movie.. 'cause i love dolphins. or, maybe real steel about those robot dudes.. or i dunno, it's up to you." aeries was crazy about movies. she would watch practically anything.. except for most horror movies.
one would think that she would be spending her junior year trying to find a perfect college to get into, but aeries would rather look for ways to find an agent so she could audition for roles in movies. she's always dreamed of being on television or the big screen. although this was quite the dorky move, aeries would spend any free time in the bathroom staring at her reflection while she practices quotes from her favorite movies. she would even pretend she was being interviewed and what she would give the interviewers for answers. sometimes at school, instead of taking notes, aeries would practice how she would sign her name if anyone would ask for her autograph. yep, total dork right there. "oh, and.. if you can, i would like to have a box of buncha-crunch, please!" she smiled politely.

quin could already feel his clothes sticking to his skin a bit, thanks to aeries being soaked. it didn't bother him that much, as long as his jeans stayed unattached from him. "huh, guess i am." he shrugged a bit, licking at his lips. quin watched as aeries looked through the movies, laughing a bit at her reasons for each movie. "i'm pretty sure if we saw abduction, i'd be shit outta luck 'cause you'd be watching taylor's abs instead'a me," he replied, winking playfully. "and dolphin tail was sappy as hell.. so.. i guess that leaves us with real steel." when it came to movies, quin would watch anything at least once. mostly because he got to see them for free now, and sometimes he'd even get to see them as a free preview with the other staff members the night before the movie actually came out. one of the many perks of getting a job at the movie theater.
determination went a long way with quin. he loved seeing people go for what they want, and not caring what other people thought about those dreams. he had caught aeries signing her name randomly once or twice, and it always put a smile on his face. once, he'd even walked up to her and asked for her autograph, acting as if he was some random fan who'd never really met her before. quin would do just about anything to make her eyes light up like that. "one box of buncha-crunch, coming right up." smiling back, he stepped up to the counter and got some popcorn and candy from his coworker, smiling a thanks before heading towards the correct theater. "ladies first." quin stepped to the side a bit at the door, letting aeries go first to pick the seats.

hit the lights - let the music move you . . . "that's okay. i like boys when they're wet." aeries giggled a little, covering her mouth as she did. "awh, man! i was hoping you would wanna check out taytay's abs with me," aeries pouted. "oh well. i think real steel would be good to watch anyway." aeries flashed him a smile as she watched quin order the candy and popcorn from his fellow employee. "why would you be wanting me to watch you, anyway?" this late question popped out of aeries' mouth as they both headed towards the proper door to get to their movie. since he let her go through first, aeries took that sign as her opportunity to figure out the perfect seats. eventually she made her way down the minuscule aisle until she found a pair of seats right in the middle; the most perfect viewing spot.
there were other good spots in the theater that she could have chosen. for one, the aisle seats are always the best for quick escaping in case of an emergency or needing to get to the bathroom in a rush, just in case. or, she could have picked way far in the back so that she could cuddle up with quin and not have to worry about the people behind them making complaints about the obstructed view. since it didn't seem that busy tonight, aeries figured it would be better to just focus on the movie.. even if quin might have different intentions in his mind. when it came to watching movies, aeries would rather pay attention to how the movie was made, who was featured in the movie, the effects that were put into the movie, etc. she made quite the crappy partner for movies; aeries likes to give criticism right after the movie instead of highlighting how awesome the movie was to watch.

quin was always a very understanding person. he was perfectly fine with sitting and actually watching a movie with someone, even if there were other alternatives. he had plenty of time for other stuff, so why waste a perfectly good movie on sitting around not paying attention to something. that way, he wouldn't have to rent a movie when it came out of theaters because he would have fully seen it in theaters. then again, he owned just about every movie made on dvd anyway, but that wasn't the point. the point was that a movie was always better in the theaters, so why waste it?
he followed along behind aeries, plopping down into the seat next to her. quin leaned back in his seat a little, getting himself comfortable in the seat. he popped some popcorn into his mouth and looked around the room. the only real time that the theater was packed was opening nights, so they were in a fairly empty room. only a couple of couples spread throughout the theater, not that he minded. it wasn't like he expected any more from this than to actually see the movie. and honestly, he was alright with that as long as aeries was there next to him.
