javin hayes had gone through a lot in his life. the only thing that had ever really gone right for him was sky, and she even tried to convince him that she wasn't the right choice sometimes. that wasn't how it worked with javi, though. he wouldn't say it out loud, but he loved sky. she was his other half; she'd helped him out when he lost his job and apartment, and she had been there for him when he always needed her the most. sky was one of the very few people in this world that javi could trust. he would do anything for her. hell, he'd even begun working on his fear of kids just for sky.
after they had a pregnancy scare, javi knew that eventually that scare could be legitimate. and what had he done? he had curled up in a different room and hyperventilated, then avoided her until the next day. not the noblest of moves, but he was terrified. so, sometimes when sky wasn't really around javi would watch madison for chord. it was weird how much that little girl loved javi when he's never done anything for her. javi looked over at her on the other end of the couch with a barbie, curiosity filling his eyes. what's going on in your head? he asked her quietly, not really expecting any kind of answer.

skylar manning wasn't the greatest at expressing her feelings, especially when it came to relationships. it was obvious that she liked javin, considering they'd been together for over a year, she'd just never had the need to tell him that she loved him. even when she told the boy to leave, sky never really wanted javin to go through with it. she couldn't imagine her life without him. besides, was a measly little word that necessary to a successful relationship? no, it wasn't. at least, not in her eyes.
ever since her and javi's pregnancy scare, sky had been spending a lot of time in her room, focusing on her school work. the possibility of losing everything had put a lot into perspective, but it hadn't been enough to scare her off sex, stealing, or troublemaking. it was just enough to push her to finish high school with respectable marks, and a ticket to piloting school. today, however, she'd been forced to stay late at the school to serve another of her infamous detentions.
dragging her bag up the stairs, textbooks thumping against the tile, sky finally made it to the door of chord's apartment. with a halfhearted push, she clambered into the room, eyes settling on javi and madison. hey. sky smirked, passing them both to get to the kitchen. playing barbies again, javi?

sky's sense of humor was one of the things that javi really enjoyed about her. not many people got her crude jokes and comments, but he didn't mind them. probably because he had the same weird sense of humor as her in most cases. that, and he really enjoyed making forts with her. okay, so that really wasn't one of the most important things, but it was one of the little things that he really never got tired of. every fort was slightly different, but always just as enjoyable. why? because him and sky got it to themselves. their own little world away from the world.
javi ran a hand through his hair, still staring at madison as she giggled and bent the barbie in every which way. he jumped when sky spoke, not having heard the door open or close. wha -- oh. yeah, i just can't help it, he retorted back sarcastically. i just can't help it, when you're not around it's all i've got. javi snorted, looking from sky to madison. the little girl had somehow managed to crawl silently into his lap, leaning her head against his chest and still messing with the barbie. he blinked, his entire body freezing. so uh, how was detention?

always the type to avoid mushy moments, sky wandered over to the fridge instead of greeting javin with a kiss. snorting lightly as she rummaged through the contents, she reached for one of the cokes chord always kept at the very back. i'm not a serial killer, spaz. sky grinned, winking as she cracked the can open and gulped down half the contents. astonishingly, no matter how much the girl ate or drank, it never showed. not that she was complaining.
closing the fridge, she leaned against the door and offered a half-hearted shrug. oh, you know.. the usual. principal skinner and i makin' out behind the bleachers. stepping forward, she wandered over to the couch and slumped down beside him, eyes trained on madison. she won't hurt you, sky commented, noticing his rigidness. she's two.

the mushiest moment that sky and javi had ever had was the trip to colorado, and he was alright with that. javi wasn't really one to sit down and plan out a ton of cheesy stuff. it was a lot easier to just be able to stay with someone and be himself than have to worry about impressing the girl. he'd only ever had one other girlfriend, and it was just too much work to have to pretend to be someone that he wasn't. it wasn't fair to anyone to fake who you really are just to make someone else feel better.
javi cracked a smile as sky mentioned principal skinner. did he remember to take out his dentures for you and everything? so romantic. he was still staring at maddie all the while. he wasn't quite sure where his fear of children had ever come from, but sometimes he just wished it didn't exist whatsoever. she could hurt me. she's got teeth, and feet, and hands, and a barbie that she could stab me with. maybe he was a little irrational when it came to children, but there was just something about kids that freaked him out.

smirking, sky rolled her eyes. oh, yeah. definitely. i just love toothless old men. their gums are a total turn on. taking another sip of her coke, sky brought her knees up to her chest and watched as madison played quietly on javi's lap. sky had never been scared of children, but the prospect of one day becoming a mother terrified her. what if she ended up being a horrible parent? a kid deserved more than that, and sky wasn't sure she'd ever be able to provide it.
shaking her head to clear her thoughts, sky laughed. oh, you're right. she's a killing machine. reaching over to tickle madison, sky winked. sick 'im, madds! get 'im! leaving her pop on the living room table, bopped the little girl lightly on the nose. you're not going to hurt javi are you? she asked, brushing the bangs from toddler's eyes. he's a pretty good guy, so you better be nice. with a sigh, she leaned in and kissed madison on the cheek before settling back into the couch cushions.
