becca del santo was one of those girls that everyone wanted their son with. she had only kissed two guys max, and she had never had a boyfriend ( or girlfriend ), so she hadn't had the chance to feel that corruption that everyone else went through at one point or another. the farthest her corruption went was smoking with ehren, and even that wasn't much. a lot of the time she just hung around while he smoked instead of actually smoking. it was nice once in a while though, because it was a break from work and family and everything else. as much as becca cared about her family, she did need breaks from them sometimes. she was the oldest of three children, and she always felt like she had to be the best influence for them and take care of them and it just got stressful sometimes. spending time with ehren was always nice, because she was comfortable with him.
signing out of the chat, becca tapped at her tan legs as carter rambled and gave her a picture. awhhh, carter, it's adorable. giggling, becca folded it up and put it in the glove compartment, watching as they pulled up to the beach. YAAAAAY! she cheered, giggling and hopping out of the truck quickly. she slid her sandles off of her feet and tossed them back into the passenger seat, hopping around in her tank top and jeans. i love the beach, and swimming, and and and.. uhhh.. sand and stuff. having a bunch of starbucks that morning probably hadn't been the best idea for her energy levels, but it was a little too late for that. c'mon, ehren! she skipped around to his side and grabbed his hand, pulling him towards the sand and bouncing. she probably seemed extra annoying, but she didn't really care at this point. life was pretty good.

ehren was not the type of guy parents liked. he smoked, dealed, barely passed high school, and wasn't planning on going to college. however, there were a lot of things that those parents just didn't see. like the fact that the most important person in his life was his younger brother, that his mother had been taken away from him when he was only fifteen, and that he was trying to pull himself out of the dark hole he'd put himself in. it wasn't like ehren was a failure -- though that was a term he liked to use when referring to himself -- he was just a little lost when it came to figuring out the wrongs and rights of his life. yet despite all this, he was always polite and generous, and it took a lot to make him angry.
pulling up to the beach, ehren quickly turned off the ignition and smiled back at carter. ready, bud? he asked, eyes crinkling at the corners from years of spending his time outside without sunscreen. rolling his eyes at becca's enthusiasm, he jumped down from the bed of his truck and grabbed carter in his arms. alright, alright. he grinned, laughing as becca took his hand and dragged him towards the water. try not to trip me, i've got a kid i might squish. as carter started to squirm in his arms, ehren slowed enough to let him down and watched as the kid bounded forwards, kicking sand up in front of him as he ran. shaking his head, ehren turned his attention back to becca, his lips pressed into a thin line to keep from laughing. what are you.. four?

being compared to a little kid was nothing new for becca. she had the enthusiasm of a little kid, and most days she had the energy of one. the fact that she basically lived off of starbucks really didn't help much, especially on days that she was already in a good mood to begin with. it was one of those days, that was for sure. she had actually had a day off of work, so she had spent it going through her summer wardrobe, sorting through her twenty some swim suits. when you have a fashion designer mother, it was a bit of a requirement to never wear the same outfit more than twice. it just wasn't right, and that had been drilled in becca's head since she was little. that, and the skinniness. her energy really helped in keeping her thin, because it meant she could run around as much as she wanted and hardly ever got tired. track definitely helped that through high school.
becca watched as ehren carried carter, smiling at how cute the two of them were together. if becca hadn't known better she would swear that ehren could have been carter's dad. he'd be a cute dad. blinking at herself, she shook her head of the cuteness trail. rolling her eyes, becca tugged on his hand again after he finally let carter down. come on, come on, cooommmeeee onnnnnnnn! becca giggled and shrugged. maybe i am. but at least i have fun. she stepped back to be even with him, licking his cheek. now i'm four. laughing, becca let go of his hand and sprinted in circles around him, waiting for him to hurry up. it's hot, let's goooooo, slow poke!

ehren was always being told he was old for his age, and though it seemed like a weird comment to make to a nineteen year old, he couldn't really blame them. he didn't go out and party like most kids his age did, he didn't sleep around, and he always showed up to work on time. hell, he'd already been living on his own for two years before he'd moved in with becca. for ehren, life seemed to have gone straight from childhood to adulthood. there'd been no wild phase, no carelessness. just.. responsibility, and he honestly didn't mind it. but despite this 'seriousness' he'd developed over the years, living with becca had started to break him out of his shell. he joked around more, he looked forward to hanging out, and he even caught himself smiling for no reason. just being at the beach with his new roommate and his little brother brightened his day considerably.
i am, jeeze. ehren laughed, wiping at his cheek to get the spit from his face. wow, becca. really nice. we've only been living together for a month and you're already giving me cooties. with a roll of his eyes, ehren shrugged out of his shirt and tossed it to the ground before spinning around to catch her in his arms. alright, that's enough. he smirked, lifting her over his shoulder and heading towards the water to throw her in fully clothed.

becca's in between phase was still going on. she'd never actually had to grow up, because her dad handed her everything she needed on a silver platter. he paid for her rent, got her clothes and any time she even thought she needed money all she had to do was say the word and he'd put some in her account. life was easy with really rich parents, at least for the spazztastic brazilian girl. she always heard people with rich parents complaining about how they didn't care about being around for their kids, but becca had never had that problem. sure, her mom was down in brazil, but she was there when she needed to call her and whatnot. it wasn't like they left the eighteen year old alone once she moved out of the house and in with ehren. they still were there when she asked them to be.
cooties! becca giggled, wrinkling her nose up like she tended to do a lot. screaming at the sudden loss of control of where she was going, becca squirmed around before calming down and giving up on struggling. put me down, meanie! she had just enough time to take a deep breath before she landed under water, a shiver spreading through her as her clothes clung to her body and the cold water rushed over her skin. standing up, she smacked ehren playfully, rubbing her hands over her eyes to get the water out of them. so not cool. though, she couldn't hold back the laughter for long, stepping back and splashing a large wave of water toward him.

for ehren, family was a touchy subject -- it was important to him, but the family he had left was never there for him. he hardly spoke to his dad unless they were coordinating the days ehren could visit carter, his grandparents were disappointed by his life choices, and his mom was stuck in a grave. of course, it hadn't always been that way, but now that he couldn't change it, he just kept his head high and worked with what he had. besides, carter was all he really needed.
i'm not going to put you down, he snorted, tightening his grip on her. you've gave me cooties. that's a pretty serious offense. dropping her into the water, he crossed his arms and watched with a smug smile as she surfaced. nah, i'd say it was pretty cool. he winked, lifting his arms just in time for the water to splash his face. hey! he shouted, dropping his arms by his side as his hair dripped in his eyes. that was just rude.

becca didn't care how weird she was. that's exactly why she didn't care about the fact that she bit ehren lightly on his back as she hung over his shoulder. cooties are fun, though! and now that you have them, you don't have to worry about catching them again. they're like.. a less gross version of herpes. they stay with you forever. giggling, becca wiggled around on his shoulder again before she was thrown into the water. the cold felt so nice, yet out of place. there was such a difference between the warmth of the air and the cold of the water, anyone that just stepped in would have probably run right out and had to slowly get back in. becca didn't even have that option anymore, nor did she even feel like bothering with losing her clothes over her bikini.
shaking her head to get her hair out of her eyes, becca stuck her tongue out at ehren. uh, definitely not, weirdo. becca loved how easy stuff was with her and ehren. she didn't have to worry about hiding stuff or holding back a smile, because he always found a way to make her smile break through and shine just about as bright as the sun, as cheesy as that sounds. he could brighten her mood even when she was feeling down, and that was a rare occurance. yeah? well whatchya gonna do about it? she teased, placing her hands on her hips and raising an eyebrow.
