happiness wasn't a destination that you found one day and just decided to stay. it was something that you had to work for every day. luna had learned that it was so much easier to be happy when you didn't actually focus on that happiness. instead, she focused on keeping those around her happy. if someone else was happy, then luna was happy. she was willing to put everything to the side just to keep other people happy, because then she could go without guilt or anything. her parents raised her right. they had always been a little on the strict side, but luna was a good kid. she spent most of her time outside ( usually at the park ) when she wasn't doing chores, thus leaving her away from parties and the internet and tv. it was obvious that the internet was a major problem with a lot of the people in town. they lost a lot of innocence from chat rooms and pop ups and.. other stuff. most teenagers rebelled when their parents cut them off from stuff, but luna understood discipline. she was mature, but at the same time she was just a big kid. she wasn't even that big, really. she was only five feet even, so she could easily pass for a middle schooler. her energy, her size, nothing was really on the side of "mature." luna nash was just a kid, and she was damn proud of that. she didn't want to rush to grow up, because she still had so much life left. so many people just existed instead of really living, but not luna.
after getting the house completely cleaned up, luna headed into her mom's room. "mom, can i have a friend over?" she asked sweetly, smiling to the woman as she typed away at her laptop. mr. nash was sitting on the chair in the room, reading some psychology book. "who do you want over, honey?" "i was thinking of calling neville and seeing if he could come and maybe stay for dinner." luna gave her parents a hopeful look. they trusted their daughter, and they'd met neville a couple times, so she had no doubts that they would say no. still, when her mother said yes, luna squealed a bit and giggled. she ran over to her mom and gave her a hug and a kiss on the cheek, and did the same for her dad. "thanks mommy, thanks daddy. i'll go call him." luna skipped out of the room and into the kitchen. she picked up the house phone, since she only got her cell phone when she left the house. she waited for someone to pick up, bouncing in her spot as she stood still. she rocked from the front of her feet to the back, listening to the riiing.. riiing.. rii -- "hi!" she said before neville could even speak. she giggled a bit, walking in circles around the kitchen. "i was wondering.. do you wanna come hang out? my dad got our disney movies out and i was wondering if you wanted to watch them with me! and my parents said you could stay for dinner, if you want. i mean, it's completely up to you. i could get out the board games maybe.. or not. really, it's up to you. uhm. so yeah, do you wanna come over?" luna quickly shut up, realizing she was rambling. she did that a lot, not surprisingly. it was especially apparent when she was excited, like she was then.
she messed with her nerd glasses, pulling them on and off her face a couple times before placing them back where they were meant to be on her face. she fidgeted, realizing she hadn't taken her sandals off when she'd gotten home from the park. quickly skipping over to the back door where the shoe mat was and pulling her sandals off. luna smiled and wiggled her toes, going over to the table and sitting down in one of the chairs. she could smell the pizza in the oven, it was like heaven to her small nose.
