to the eye, sammie was a lot like the slutty girls in town. she drank, she smoked pot, she slept around. but all of that was just an act. she never had more than one drink, she only smoked around her friends, and she was terrified of sleeping around. she'd only slept with two guys before in her life, and they had both been terrible. the first time was basically forced upon her, and the second one the guy was so drunk it was just awkward. she hadn't enjoyed herself one bit, and she didn't like that she felt pressured to be a whore just to fit in with her friends. sure, she could always get new friends, but she liked her friends. she just didn't like that she felt pressured to be a bad kid.
life at home wasn't exactly fantastic for sammie, but she didn't complain. her family was lower middle class, and reid definitely got spoiled more than sammie ever had. the eight year old kid was the light of sammie's life, though. she loved her little brother. sometimes it was nice to use him as an excuse from going out and getting 'wasted' with her friends. sammie had mastered the art of pretending to be drunk or high, it was pretty handy sometimes. one thing that most people didn't know about sammie was that she was taking summer courses at the university. they were going to help her get graduated earlier, which would be nice. plus, it meant she got to spend her summer doing what she loved -- digital art. stepping out of her class, she headed to the outdoor area of the campus, getting a smoothie from the mini starbucks stand and sitting down at a table by herself, staring at the drink as it slowly melted in the heat.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] ALL I EVER WANTED WAS JUST TO MAKE YOU SEE The Words: enough The Outfit: click! The Notes (: ariana usually wasn't one to be the 'bad girl' of the group. sure, she had friends that smoke and drank on a regular basis, but when it came to her choice, she would rather be the designated driver. she simply never saw any appeal in getting wasted to the point that she couldn't think straight or so high that she felt like she was floating. of course, her upbringing definitely had an impact on the way that she avoided these poisons. her father had been a secret drug addict all throughout his courtship with her mother, but her mum didn't find out about it until they were married and she was pregnant with ashley. of course, once ariana was born, he tried to quit drugs altogether, to build a happy, perfect family. he failed. just before ariana's third birthday, he left without notice, leaving behind a substantial amount of money and a simple note to her mother. he said that he was going to come back once he was healthy..but considering that ashley is nearly nineteen years old now, it hasn't happened yet. him, his decisions, ultimately changed ariana's view on life. why spend it constantly unable to perform basic tasks, when you can be perfectly happy sober?
though her family life is rocky, ariana had always found some sort of..comfort in school. there was a set schedule, you went through each class, a certain amount of time was set in each class, and rarely was that time interrupted. now, she wasn't the best student growing up, but once she entered university, everything just clicked for her. she loved going to her classes, even if they were all generals that first year. of course, ari ended up returning that summer to take a few introduction classes to her photography major. there were only two, and they hardly took up any time in her schedule. ariana stepped into the bright sun, slipping on her dark tinted sunglasses. she twisted the lens on her camera absentmindedly as she walked to the small starbucks stand, buying a lemonade. gripping the cold drink in her hand she scanned the campus, looking for anyone that she recognised. of course, a dark haired girl who was sitting alone caught her attention. with a smile, she walked over to the table, sitting down across from her friend. hey, samsam she sipped her drink what's up, babe? |

as sammie sat there, she couldn't help but let her mind wander off. reid was probably still asleep, or going through her room or something. she hated leaving the eight year old home alone with his overactive imagination, but she wanted to get her courses done. her foot toyed with the "arm" of her penguin backpack as it sat on the ground next to her. sammie wiggled her nose, feeling her septum piercing move around a bit in the process, which made her crack a bit of a smile. she pulled her phone out, staring at it with a concentrated look. she had to figure out how to get enough money to afford a better phone. while all her friends were off with full keyboards or iphones or whatever, she'd had the same flip phone for three years. it wasn't that she minded, she just didn't like that the phone was so difficult to text on. then again, she'd gotten used to it. a drastic change would be traumatizing. not really, but still.
she dialed the house phone, waiting for her little brother to pick up. finally, after four rings, he picked up just as she would have gone to the answering machine. hey, bud. how's it going? she listened to him as he let her know everything that he'd done since he woke up. she laughed lightly at him, rolling her eyes. i'm done with class, but i'm getting a coffee then i'll be on my way. forty five minutes tops, alright? she paused for his response. do you want me to pick you up some lunch? she wouldn't be home until lunch time anyway, which was only like an hour away. early courses tended to leave her getting home a little after noon most days. alright. see you soon. you can borrow my nintendo if you want, just don't break it. see ya, bud. flipping her phone closed, she stuffed it back into the pocket of her shorts and took a sip of her drink, looking up as ari joined her. air, hey. ever since one time texting her that she'd meant to put 'ari' and she typed 'air', she'd stuck with the nickname. sammie liked to be different. just relaxing between class and babysitting, figured i'd get a coffee so i can keep up with reid. what about you? she asked, smiling before taking another sip, chewing on her straw.
tonight will be the night that i will fall for you
