Even the teacher had since gone to lunch, but Gabrielle stayed to work through a complicated problem. Maybe it was her desire to show up other in the class, or possibly just because she loved doing math. Even though her vocation was engineering, she contemplated going into biology or chemistry sometimes. Her face was almost touching the beige metal desks, and her long, red hair flowed around her face, concealing both her and her scratch work. A few minutes and a couple pages later, Gabrielle leaned back up in her chair to smile at the newly solved problem. Just in time too, as the bell rang, and she could her other students walking by and talking in the hall. Gabrielle reached her left hand up to her hairline to comb it back with her fingers. She knew she was a nerd, but that was okay with her. At least for the time being, until someone popular walked by. But they all knew she couldn't be one of them, she didn't have what it took to be them. She would show them, when they were stuck pumping gas at the local 76, and Gabrielle was making six figures as a petroleum engineer her first year out of college. Students began to file in, and she looked up intently at the board, waiting for the next lesson. there can be only one mikey! of caution 2.0 |
