tanner had lived in bluewater his whole life, so he knew his way around the town pretty well. and for as long as he could remember, the restaurant he now worked at was always there. he could remember seeing it when he was younger, going there sometimes for lunch or dinner with his family. and he now worked there as a waiter. he had since his second or third year of high school, just to get some extra money after school. he had continued working there throughout the summer time, and into his next years of high school. once he had to start college, for a while he wasn't sure if he could handle all his classes and a job, but he managed. during the summer it was much easier.
of course, once in a while he would have a summer class, but not nearly as many as the actual school year. checking the time quickly, tanner slid on his shoes and stepped outside. it was about a quarter to five, the time tanner always left for work. since his shift started at five, he had to leave a bit earlier, which didn't bother him too much. the resaurant wasn't too far from his house, especially since he drove there. getting there a few minutes later, tanner got out of the car and walked inside, glancing around at the families sitting around before going to find out the area he would be taking care of that night. seeing a girl be seated at one of the tables he walked over and offered a small smile. "hello, i'm tanner. i'll be your waiter tonight."

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] ALL I EVER WANTED WAS JUST TO MAKE YOU SEE The Words: enough The Outfit: maybe laterrr The Notes sorry it took so long! ashley knew bluewater like the back of her hand. she had grown up there, and even though she never had many friends doesn't mean that she never explored the small town. as a matter of fact, that was the only thing that she did, besides schoolwork of course. when she was little, she would always go to the park, to find new places to hide herself away. as she got older, and her parents gave her a little more freedom, that habit persisted. but then she would pack a bag full of books (all non-fiction, of course_ and just walk around the neighborhood, around the downtown area. she found little nooks and crannys, small opening barely large enough for her to fit in. those places felt to..magical. like she was escaping the world. now, being twenty-one years old, one of these spots existed at the restaurant just around the corner from her apartment. it was a little more open than past hiding spots, but then again, where better to hide than out in the open?
the sun was still bright outside, shining through the clean windows down onto the restaurant's occupants. it was nearing six o'clock, and though the dinner rush would have been starting soon, not many people sat at the tables and booths. ashley forrester sat at a booth by the window, three textbooks laying out in front of her, each flipped open. paragraphs were highlighted, sentences underlined, and notes scrawled in the margins. ashley's head was bent over on of the books, a pink high lighter in her hand. she chewed on the end of the pen, tracing a line of small black wonders with her finger. her mind drifted and the words blurred together. maybe i should go visit beatrice..she seemed upset last time we spoke... she shook her head, dragging her finger back to the beginning of the paragraph. she clicked her high lighter, marking a sentence. the end of her pen returned to her mouth, a habit that had formed early in junior high school when she was focused. she was pulled into the book, her eyes narrowing in on the words, her hearing dulled.
ashley's head snapped up after she heard a voice greet her. hello, i'm tanner. i'll be your waiter tonight |
she looked up at him and blushed lightly, but covered it up quickly by looking down and shuffling around her papers, shutting the textbook that sat directly in front of her. hello..sorry, i, uh she puled the menu out from underneath an open notebook and a few high lighters. all have the bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwich with a side of avocado, please she smiled and looked up at the waiter, pushing a textbook that was hung over the edge farther onto the table. she handed the menu to the waiter but turned her head quickly back to the table when she heard a small crash, and then water trickling. she pushed all of her things to the side to avoid them getting wet. she grabbed a handful of napkins from the silver container, placing them on the spilled water. i'm so sorry..i should have been more careful.. her cheeks were bright pink now as she tried to wipe up the mess.[/div]

looking down at the table for a second, tanner noticed all the books and highlighters and everything that she had spread all around. he figured she must be pretty involved in school if she had all this stuff even when it was summer. at times, tanner could be a rather big book worm too, just usually not as much during the summer time. he briefly wondered what she was studying, science, math, medicine, law, or even english, like himself? he couldn't be sure though, unless he asked, and he wasn't going to do that right then. not when he was supposed to be working. hearing her spoke, he turned his gaze away from the supplies laid out in front of her, focusing back on her. giving a small nod, he quickly wrote down her order.
jumping a bit when the water spilt, he shook his head and smiled softly. "don't be sorry, it's fine. happens all the time." he said, trying to reassure her. she seemed rather embarassed, and slightly nervous, after that had happened, and he was hoping that he could rassure her a bit. grabbing a few napkins, he pressed them down against the spill, holding them there for a few seconds. taking them off after a moment, he looked down at the table and shrugged a little. "see? it's fine. you can't even tell there was a spill there now. nothing to be worried about." he told her, grinning softly. "are all you're books alright? not wet or anything?" he asked her after another minute or two. he knew how expensive school books could be, and he was hoping none of hers would be damaged.
