violet could never really pinpoint the reason she had for volunteering at the hospital the past four years of her life. she wasn't going into a medical field. well, a physically medical field. violet supposed a big part of the reason she enjoyed what she did was because she liked the kids she typically worked with. maybe it was a little selfish of her, but sometimes she almost relied on the smiling faces to keep her happy that day. lately, vi had been falling into another weird funk. her days were becoming increasingly routine. she woke up, went to class, came home, slept for hours, then rinse rinse repeat. she felt like she was in a rut in her life, and she was very unhappy to say the least. today wasn't any better either. instead of getting to see the kids, she was asked to shuffle paperwork from person to person and get things signed. at the moment she was on her way to the other end of the hospital where adults were treated. her scrubs swished together as she ran to the office where she was supposed to be several minutes before. she burst into the room and threw the papers down, muttering an apologizing before leaving again. finally, she was on break for about twenty minutes.
violet walked slowly for a moment until she reached the break room. grabbing a cup of coffee, she sipped at its contents. she didn't want to spend her time in there so she left making her way out to the waiting room. her brown eyes scanned the people until she found a familiar face. she walked over to the guy. "uh. seb? what are you doing here right now?" she asked, looking at him, her cup of coffee still in hand.

Sebastian sat in the waiting of the hospital, a copy of Vogue in his hands. There really wasn't anything else to read, so he was flipping through pictures of runway fashions and tips on finding the right bathing suit for your body type. He didn't mind the later, hot women in bikinis were always great. It was towards the end of the magazine that he came across an article about a mother losing her child and her personal growth from it. That hit home, and he sat there, staring at the image for a moment. When Sebastian had been diagnosed he remembered his mother's tear-stricken face, "You're not supposed to be the one burying your child," she'd sobbed into Mr Kerr's shoulder. It was strange when he thought about it, that in a year he was going to cease to exist. His doctor, a childhood friend, always acted so optimistic during these routine visits. She claimed he had a chance, But Sebastian was aware of his situation. It was why he'd moved out to Bluewater in the first place, to get away from the pity in his last few months. However, it seemed his cover was going to be blown when he heard a familar voice.
Sebastian quickly shut the magazine and sat up straighter, looking at Violet's pretty face. "Oh hey," he started, thinking of a lie quickly. "My friend has an appointment, so I drove him here." He smiled at her, his face blank of the tension he felt, but underneath the cover of the magazine he crossed his fingers, like he always did when he lied. Seb pulled out his phone, sending a text to the doctor--Code Red it read before he turned back to her. "Nice scrubs, really looks great on your body." He grinned.

violet looked at him, narrowing her eyes a bit. she didn't exactly believe him, but she wasn't going to pry. at least, not yet. "your friend, huh?" she asked, setting her cup of coffee down on a side table next to his chair. "what is he here for then?" she looked down at her scrubs and smiled. "yeah, don't even joke. scrubs don't look good on anyone except for like natalie portman or someone," she said laughing a bit. taking the initiative she sat down in the empty seat next to him. "i'm on break and pretty bored so can i sit here? i mean if you are just waiting on someone." he looked pretty tense for someone who was just bringing a friend. she and seb had only been friends for a short while, but she had already taken a sort of sense of responsibility for him for some reason. she didn't know why and she couldn't place the reason she did, but alas she did. she just sort of felt this need to watch over him, make sure he wasn't doing anything stupid. he did seem to a have an all over the place personality much of the time, anyways. "so how has your day been so far?" she offered, trying to break the silence. violet pushed her bangs from her eyes and slumped back more in the chair, looking over at him.
when it got down to it, vi had to admit that seb was pretty attractive. she wouldn't say it though to him point blank. that wasn't her style. a few moments later, she realized she'd been staring a bit too much. she faced forward and watched as the patients went in and out to the actual part of the hospital room. when she thought of it, it was really quite depressing. that's why she preferred to be in the children's ward. it always seemed more hopeful there. realizing he had not answered yet, she turned a bit more towards him and awaited a reply.

Code red was the signal Seb would send to his doctor when something was up. They'd grown up together and she understood how important it was to him to keep this all a secret, to try and remain a normal guy during his last few months. "He slept with some girl and thinks he got an STI." Sebastian grinned his usual silly grin, running a hand through his hair before turning towards her. His blue eyes wandered up and down her body before shrugging, "You'd give Miss Portman a run for her money." He was being completely sincere, Sebastian found Violet more than just hot, she actually looked beautiful to him. Maybe it was something he saw in her eyes, It was something sad, something which brewed a feeling deep down inside of him. He wanted to erase that sadness.
"Boring," Sebastian breathed as he spread himself out on the seat, pretending to be exhausted before sitting back up. "Got stuck in traffic and I've been sitting here forever." He turned back to her, raising his eyebrows. "So why do you waste your life away rotting in the hospital?" He smiled again, to show her he didn't mean anything rude by his comment. Seb really respected those that worked in hospitals, they'd certainly helped him probably live longer than he had expected to live. Even if they were a pain in his ass sometimes.
