when javi found out about the money his mother had left for him, there was only one thing he wanted to spend it on. technically two, but whatever. he booked the flight right away, and made a few calls to a cousin that lived in the mountains in order to convince them to let him and sky borrow it for the weekend. he let dev know he'd be gone until tuesday, just in case they got a little delayed in vegas or something. the look on skylar's face had been priceless as they landed in colorado and he drove her up to his cousin's house, that had the perfect view of the rest of the mountains.
saturday. javi woke up and headed into the kitchen from the room him and sky were sharing, scratching the back of his neck as he made his way down the steps and into the room. everything about the house was perfect. everything overlooked the mountains because of the giant windows all along that side of the house. the kitchen and living room were connected, over looking just the view that sky had said she'd love to see every morning. javi smiled and grabbed a bowl of cereal, heading into the living room to sit down on the couch and just stare out the window. it was so quiet, he loved it. the sun slowly rose over the mountains as he ate his food, putting the empty bowl on the coffee table when finished and just staring out the window. he felt like he could stay like that forever. completely relaxed.

out of all the things javin could have gotten her, a weekend in colorado was the last thing sky had ever imagined. the moment she'd found out, her heart had skipped so many beats she was sure it had stopped completely. of course, there had been some guilt towards the whole idea, considering the money javin had used for the tickets could have been put towards a new apartment, but it hadn't been able to shake her excitement completely. bottling up her doubts and her worries, skylar decided instead to simply enjoy herself. this was her one chance to get away from all her troubles, and she wasn't about to let that go.
rolling over in bed, her arms reached out to grab for javi. pausing when she didn't find him, sky opened one eye warily and blinked frantically as the morning sun hit her face. after a few dazed moments, she lifted her hands to her face to wipe the sleep from her eyes. good morning, colorado. she grinned, pushing herself up onto her elbows before crawling the rest of the way out of bed. tip-toeing across the room, she snatched up her pair of abandoned sweats and slipped them on, opening the door a crack before wandering into the kitchen. javi? she whispered, feeling as if she talked too loudly, everything would disappear.

javi had stolen a brand new camera before the flight just so he could have it for this trip. even just seeing the town and the house it was so perfect. money definitely well spent. he'd rather give sky the perfect trip than spend his money on himself any day. javi wasn't the type of guy to worry about spending his money on himself unless he desperately needed to. okay, it was kind of picking up with desperation considering he was homeless, but he didn't want to think of that. he was in colorado, in a fancy ass house, with the girl of his dreams. there was nothing to worry about.
hearing sky's faint voice, javi couldn't help but smile. he sat up a bit and looked over his shoulder toward where he heard her. in the living room, he called, not even having to raise his voice for it to sound kind of loud. his cousin had definitely cleaned to the point where everything looked imaginary. the house echoed as if it was brand new, everything had a place, and nothing seemed like it had been lived on. it was kind of weird, but it was soothing. he sat back into his position on the couch, curled up and staring out the window. he wanted his camera, but he was far too into relaxing to care. he could always get a sunrise picture the next morning.

money had never really been an issue for sky. between slipping bills from her parents' wallets when they weren't looking, and stealing from the stores she 'shopped' at when she needed some new clothes, skylar had never been put into a situation where she'd been in dire need of a job, or a few extra bucks. now that she was finally in colorado, everything seemed to come into perspective. in a less than two years, she'd be going off on her own to try and live her dream as a pilot, and after that, she'd be off trying to build herself a home. if anything, this trip was making her want to leave bluewater as quick as possible to relocate and start new in the mountains that surrounded her now. but in order to do that, she had to put effort into finding a job, which wasn't something that she'd ever really planned for.
picking at the breakfast items in the kitchen, sky quickly gave up. shrugging, she slid across the tiles to the stairs that led to the living room, jumping the small landing in one easy step. tip-toeing towards the back of the couch, sky leaned forward and wrapped her arms around javi's neck, leaning in to kiss his cheek. good morning starshine, the earth says hellooo, with a grin, she dropped her arms to his shoulders and leaned against the frame of the couch, chin resting on the top of his head as she stared out the windows. as her eyes finally focused on the view, all she could manage was a weak, wow.

javi had been on his own for a couple years, so he was used to having to keep a stable job to take care of himself. he'd perfected the act of stealing stuff he knew he'd never be able to afford, but that couldn't get him by all the time. he had to make sure he got enough to eat, that he got time to work out, that he made enough money to pay bills and.. he'd lost that once his job was gone. nobody wanted to hire a guy that had only worked at mcdonald's. well, dev had given him a job as a coach assistant, but that job was shit. it would work, though, because the pay really wasn't all that bad. and he'd told him that there was always possibilties for a raise. javi couldn't turn that down. he needed the money so he could get another apartment at some point. he couldn't stay with sky and chord forever.
a wide smile slipped over his lips as he felt the kiss on his cheek, chuckling lightly at her choice of words. morning, beautiful lady. javi stared out the window, taking a deep breath. he places a gentle kiss on her hand, nodding just hardly. amazing, huh? he grabbed onto her hand and tugged a bit. come sit. he leaned back into his seat, draping an arm over the back of the couch so she could cuddle up when she came around to the front.

though sky didn't have much faith in love, she couldn't deny the fact that she genuinely liked javin. just being around him was enough to brighten her mood, especially on the worst of days. she didn't exactly know what that meant for the both of them, but she assumed it was enough to keep him around, even if it was just a little while longer. it wasn't as if skylar was incapable of feeling anything, she just didn't know how. her role models for that sort of thing were non-existent, and no matter how many times chord tried to shove his speeches on the one down her throat, she could never grasp the concept.. so instead of owning up to her emotional barriers, she tried to come up with reasons for javi to leave, even though she didn't want him to. it just made more sense to her, to have him find someone who was more worthy of his attention instead of wasting his time on a girl that might never tell him she loved him.
it's more than amazing.. she whispered, smiling as he tugged on her hand. hold on, she mumbled, dropping his grip in order to brace her hands on the back of the couch. three, two, one. forcing all her weight onto her arms, skylar swung her legs over the back on the couch and landed beside him with a soft thump, cutting corners as usual. there we go. she laughed, curling up into his side with her knees pressed to her chest.

being around skylar just felt right to javi. he didn't know if he'd go as far as to say he loved the girl, but he really did like her, and she was one of -- if not the -- most important person in his life. his parents were out of the picture ever since the emancipation, other than this run in with the money. he didn't have any siblings, and he didn't let friends close enough to know the real him. he'd dated other girls before sky, but he'd liked her for as long as he could remember, thus making relationships end before they even truly started. hearing 'i love you' wasn't something that javi needed to have to be happy. he would much rather show that he cared with actions rather than words, so he didn't mind if skylar never said it. he was happy with where they were.
watching sky hop over the back of the couch, he couldn't help but laugh. he dropped his arm off of the top of the couch and wrapped it around her shoulders, getting comfortable as the sun continued to rise, creeping out more and more from behind the mountain tops. how he had managed to go his entire life without seeing that, he wasn't sure. no, staying in colorado wasn't really an option, but that didn't mean he couldn't dream. well.. he didn't exactly have a real home to go back to or anything, but he had school to finish up and a new job, and he wouldn't say unless skylar stayed too, and he wasn't going to pick up both of their lives for a silly dream. what d'you wanna do today? he asked, keeping his gaze on the scenery.

even though she always asked him to leave, sky couldn't imagine her life without javin. things with him around were easier, and all her little problems seemed to disappear when they were together. she was just skeptical about how long it would last, and how they would both get off on their own. over the past year, javin had been there for her more times than she could count, and though sky acted like she didn't need anyone to look after her, not having javi around would be a change that would take a long time to get past.
resting her chin on her knee, skylar stared out the window, watching as the trees were basked in golden light. she couldn't believe her luck, and she didn't dare look away in case she never had the opportunity to visit again. i don't know, she mumbled, eyes stinging the longer she kept them open. i'm scared that if i move, i'll miss everything. with a grin, she slowly dropped her knees and leaned back to rest her head on his shoulder. can we just sit here for a bit?

it didn't matter how many times skylar told javi to leave, because he had no plans on it. after a year of being with her and having her around through everything, it would be too hard to just up and leave. stuff was simple with her. no pressure to constantly be perfect, or always be saying that he loved her, or change how he was just to keep her happy. she understood him, he understood her. it was simple, and javi liked that. it was routine to have sky around. changing that just wasn't in any way something that he wanted to do. javi had no idea what was going to happen after high school, but he tried to avoid thinking of it at all times because that would mean having to consider not having sky around. he couldn't bring himself to do that.
when he'd be back to this spot was beyond javi. it was a miracle he'd come upon the money to get there in the first place. one day, when he became a pilot, he could fly out here whenever he wanted. that sounded nice. no, that sounded almost perfect. the only thing that would make it better was having sky with him then as well as at that very moment. javi tilted his head to rest it on top of sky's, staring out the window with relaxed eyes. he wasn't sure what could ever make that moment any better. of course. he replied quietly, rubbing his hand gently against her shoulder.

sky didn't want to say she was comfortable with javi, because it implied she was only there for convenience, and that was far from the truth. her relationship with javin was everything but comfortable. it was sweet, funny, spontaneous, outrageous, and everything in between, but most of all, everything they had was nothing like what her parents had. she didn't want fake smiles, fights, or the cruelty she saw between them. sky wanted genuine happiness, honesty and complete trust in who she was with, and javin gave her all three.
crossing her legs over javi's lap, sky slipped her arms around his waist and scooted in as close as she could. holding her breath, she tried not move. her eyes were glued to the window like a little girl's glued to her favourite disney movie -- she didn't want to miss a thing. thank you, thank you, thank you. she breathed, tightening her grip on his waist. though she was sure she'd be thanking him every day for the rest of their lives, she knew it would never be enough. this was the best gift anyone could have given her.

if javi looked ahead at his life, he couldn't picture it without skylar. no matter how many times she pushed for him to leave, he wouldn't dare walk out. the fact that she hadn't been the person that he told about being homeless was still kicking him in the ass, but he put that behind him. this trip was about relaxing, forgetting all the drama back in bluewater, spending time with sky. in all honesty, he was one hundred percent sure that he loved sky. was he planning on telling her that? no, not really. he was pretty sure that she knew without him saying it, it was pretty obvious.
his arms didn't even hesitate to wrap themselves around sky as she cuddled up close. he looked down to her with a geniune smile, kissing her forehead gently before looking back out the giant window. javi's smile widened, if that was even possible. you're welcome, babe. he really didn't need to be thanked. that trip wsa the best thing he'd ever done, not just for sky but for himself as well. they needed this time together, and there was no better way for that than to be somewhere that they both really wanted to be.

to be honest, sky didn't know what she would say if javin ever admitted to loving her. there was the obvious response - one she'd seen countless times in movies, books, plays, even in songs, but was she prepared to give that response? no. sky was prepared to stick around for as long as she was wanted, and maybe, just maybe, if her feelings, thoughts, and perceptions on love changed during that time, she'd admit to it. but it nothing was written in stone, and at this point, her views on love weren't about to change, even for javi.
with a coy smile, sky crawled into his lap and wrapped her arms around his neck. though she'd been adamant about watching the sunrise moments ago, she'd decided what she was about to do was more important. besides, without javi, she would have never been able to see her pretty mountains. thank you, she grinned, leaning forward to kiss him gently. thank you, she muttered, leaning back in once more. thank you. she laughed, pausing centimeters from his lips before leaning into to give him another quick peck.

javi was fine with not constantly talking about love, let alone thinking about it. some things were meant for certain people, and love wasn't something that javi was sure he was ever really raised to take into consideration at every waking moment. his parents hadn't exactly been very loving, to say the least. his dad had been a complete prick, and his mom kept her love silent from the world, including javi's dad. it was the furthest thing from surprising when she acted as if mr. hayes never hit their son. had he ever had hope that his mother would be his savior, that hope disappeared after the third time around. emancipation couldn't come quick enough.
one eyebrow raised as skylar crawled into his lap. javi was pretty sure he knew what she was doing. he laughed lightly against her lips as she brought them back and forth with saying thank you. you're welcome. kiss. you're welcome. kiss. you're welcome. the final kiss lasted longer than the others, wrapping his arms protectively around her waist and keeping her close.
