this day never seemed to end. the clocked on carina's living room wall ticked slowly, lethargically, annoyingly. the second hand took it's sweet time making it's way along the edges of the clock before carina tore her eyes from the irritating object and threw on a comfortable navy hoodie and a pair of black vans, slipping her sunglasses on before going outside and sliding into the driver's seat of her car. the old engine clanked to a start and she drove to the nearest starbucks, which happened to be no more than five minutes away. she could have walked, she knew. but she wasn't particularly in the mood. she planned on inconspicuously ordering a salted caramel machiatto, throw it down her throat for the caffeine rush, and then drive around for the rest of the day. maybe go for a run later that afternoon. yeah, a run. that sounded nice. a good way to keep her mind off of things.
her life was currently a wreck. she missed evabeth, the nickname she and alek had given to the little girl who would have been their daughter. she missed alek, who had gone back to england for a family event. he had wanted carina to come with, but she couldn't. she just..couldn't. all she wanted to do since she lost evabeth was to sit at home, curled up in her sheets, and wait for alek to get home. wait for him to hold her, to kiss her and tell her everything would be okay. he would kiss away the tears that inevitably came, he would run his fingers through her hair and rub small circles in her back. she just wanted to feel his touch, to hear his voice. that's all, nothing more.
she was standing in the coffee house, waiting for her order, as she wiped a few stray tears from her cheeks and threw the hood of her jacket over her head. she didn't want to be out right now, she didn't want to see happy parents and little girls, playing with toys and giggling. it was too much. it was all too much. she was about to turn around, purposefully leaving her coffee behind, when she bumped into someone. then her order was called. carina sighed, apologizing quietly to the person, and returning to get her coffee. she stood awkwardly by the bar, unwilling to give in and sit down by herself. she occupied herself by watching the people around her, keeping her own thoughts from herself.

ahh the mornings, he was a morning bird, and he hated it. just the fact that he was so different from all these night owls made him seem, out of the circle, out of the ordinary, but he didn't really care, all he really cared about right now is getting his final project together to finally get out of college.
although he did enjoy the occasional party he was invited to, he was still outside the circle of friends, him being a foreigner and all didn't really sit well here. he sighed as we got his simple order of a hot chocolate and he sat down at the stools watching the world outside, thinking. he didnt even notice if anyone was next to him. he sighed lightly as he drank his hot chocolate slowly.
